Astrocartography: do the stars draw a map of luck around the world?

Astrocartography helps you choose a place on Earth where your natal chart “comes to life” most vividly. But is that really the case? It’s not mysticism, but rather a precise calculation of planetary lines on a global map for moving, working, or vacationing.

How does astrocartography work?

The method is based on the natal chart: the moment of birth is taken and angles are projected onto a world map. This results in lines on the world map that correspond to a specific area of life and therefore directly influence a person’s life in a particular region. Jim Lewis popularized this in the 1970s with Astrocartography, using computers for maps.

Wikipedia defines it as “astrocartography – the projection of a horoscope onto the surface of the Earth, where angular planets show their influence on places.”

Planetary lines and their effects

The Sun-MC line enhances leadership and recognition (if you’ve heard the phrase: New York is for the ambitious), the Moon-IC line enhances emotional comfort and family (homey places like villages).

Mercury-ASC – communication, learning (a city like London). Venus-DC – romance, art, and Mars-MC – career victories, but risks of quarrels. Ptolemy in “Almagest” (2nd century) laid the foundation, linking regions with signs;

Lewis developed this for personal charts. Lewis’s book Astrocartography Explained: “The Parana line (intersection) is a super point of power, like Jupiter+MC for luck.”

Behavioral strategies along the lines

Moving or traveling to a planetary line requires clear adaptation – here are some ready-made tactics for success.

Jupiter-MC (career, growth): start a business or networking,  income grows 2-3 times; wear purple amethyst, meditate on abundance for 10 minutes in the morning.

Venus-IC (home, comfort): invest in home improvements, strengthen your family, avoid arguments – keep pink quartz in your pocket for harmony.

Mars-ASC (energy, appearance): take the initiative in sports or projects, but extinguish aggression with yoga or breathing exercises instead of conflict.

Unfavorable lines (Saturn-DC): set boundaries in relationships, check all contracts with a lawyer; Jim Lewis advises living 700 km away from the line – the effect is milder but still beneficial. Example:

Neptune-IC by the ocean enhances creativity, but avoid illusions – no alcohol or escapism, focus on art.

As Lewis said, “Lines are a lens for natal energy: places amplify planets, like the focus of the Sun.”

Practice and modern use

Ultimately, astrocartography superimposes the birth chart onto a map of the world – Jupiter’s line is where one can cash in their view of said part of their life for mega-money; Venus brings love; Mars speeds up ones job prospects and so on for all the planets. Move with intention – using talismans and limits: business to Jupiter-MC, comfort to Venus-IC, sports to Mars-ASC. Lewis established in the 1970s that the effect is real within a radius of about 700 km.

In the end, astrocartography is your personal GPS from the stars: the lines show where energy flourishes.
