Graham Greene Bio

Henry Graham Greene OM CH (October 2, 1904 - April 3, 1991), better known by his pen name Graham Greene, was an English novelist considered by some to be one of the great writers of the 20th century. Combining literary success with widespread popularity, Greene gained an early reputation as a major writer of both serious Catholic novels and thrillers (or "entertainments", as he called them). In 1967, he was shortlisted for the Nobel Prize for Literature. In his 67 years of writing, including more than 25 novels, he explored the ambivalent moral and political issues of the modern world, often from a Catholic point of view. Although Greene strongly disputed being described as a Roman Catholic novelist, rather than one who happened to be Catholic, Catholic religious themes underpin much of his writing, particularly the four major Catholic novels Brighton Rock, The Power and the Glory, The Heart of the Matter and The End of the Affair, which are considered the gold standard of the Catholic novel. Works such as The Confidential Agent, The Third Man, The Quiet American, Our Man in Havana and The Human Factor also testify to Greene’s interest in the workings and intrigues of international politics and espionage. Greene was born in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, into a large and influential family that included the owners of the Greene King brewery. He was sent to boarding school in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, where his father taught and became principal. Unhappy at school, he attempted suicide several times. He entered Balliol College, Oxford, to study history. During his studies, he publishes his first work in 1925, a poorly received volume of poetry, Babbling April. After graduating, Greene worked first as a tutor, then as a journalist, first at the Nottingham Journal, then as sub-editor at The Times. He converted to Catholicism in 1926 after meeting his future wife, Vivien Dayrell-Browning. Later in life, however, he began to refer to himself as a "Catholic agnostic", or even sometimes as a "Catholic atheist". He published his first novel, The Man Within, in 1929, whose favorable reception enabled him to work full-time as a novelist. He supplemented his income as a novelist with freelance journalism and book and film reviews. His 1937 review of Wee Willie Winkie (for the British newspaper Night and Day) commented on the sexuality of nine-year-old star Shirley Temple. Twentieth Century Fox then sued, prompting Greene to live in Mexico until the trial was over. It was in Mexico that Greene developed the ideas for the novel considered to be his masterpiece, The Power and the Glory. Greene originally divided his fiction into two genres (which he described as "entertainments" and "novels"): thrillers, often tinged with philosophy, such as The Ministry of Fear, and literary works, on which he believed his literary reputation would rest, such as The Power and the Glory. Greene suffered from depression, which had a profound effect on his writing and his personal life. In a letter to his wife Vivien, he told her that he had "a character deeply antagonistic to ordinary domestic life" and that "unfortunately, sickness is also the stuff of men". William Golding described Greene as "the ultimate chronicler of the consciousness and anxiety of twentieth-century man". He died of leukemia in 1991, aged 86, and was buried in the Corseaux cemetery.

Moon in Cancer

Sun in Libra

Asc in Scorpio

Sun in Libra

You are inherently more flamboyant and self-assured when the sun is in your sign, Libra. There is some connection between them. Now is your chance to demonstrate your charm, diplomacy, and social acumen. Don't miss this opportunity. Maintaining a healthy balance between work and personal life is crucial, and fostering relationships is given more importance. You must strike a balance between your desire to be in a relationship and your ability to see yourself as an individual due to Libra's influence. You may feel that you need to make more deliberate decisions and establish more defined boundaries, despite your propensity to view things from various perspectives. Take advantage of this opportunity to reflect on your uniqueness and the ways you contribute to your relationships. Additionally, this paragraph encourages the reader to express themselves more personally through their artistic endeavors. Regardless of the industry you work in—fashion, art, or communication—you will notice a difference in your appearance and level of attention to detail. To improve your mood and the surroundings, you may feel that you need to make improvements to your house, purchase attractive items, or take other actions.

Moon in Cancer

A Libran has a great mix of social grace and emotional depth when the Moon is in Cancer. The Moon is in Cancer at the same time, which is why this is happening. You are a Libra because you have a deep love of beauty, a strong sense of harmony, and the ability to get along with others. Your Cancer Moon rules your emotional and sensitive inner world, which needs a strong sense of safety and belonging to work properly. Your Cancer Moon is in charge of your inner world, which is why this is the case. Not only does this pairing work well together, but it also works very well. Your Cancer Moon gives you a lot of emotional depth, which is why your charm and diplomacy as a Libra are real.  Your natural gift is to make others feel at ease and comfortable in their own skin. You are very dedicated to and protective of the people you care about because you have a rare mix of social grace and a caring heart. You are ready to bring about peace and are willing to put in the time and effort needed to do it in a way that is emotionally healthy.
Even though this is the case, there are some problems that come with this combination. For example, you may find it hard to set appropriate limits because your Libran need to please others conflicts with your Cancerian need to protect yourself. You may also find it hard to express your needs clearly, which can lead to passive-aggressive behavior. This is because your need for control and your desire for harmony are at odds with each other.

Mercury in Virgo

Libra Sun Mercury in Virgo When the harmony-loving, graceful Libra Sun comes into the thoughtful, analytical sphere of Mercury in Virgo you get someone who seeks justice not just with charm but with an awesome intellectual and adaptable mind. The inner you can be deeply sensitive, emotional and sometimes harsh, while on the outside you are drawn to creating balance, peace and beauty in everything that surrounds you.
It’s a dynamic that makes for pleasingly effective symbiosis. Your Libra sun would like to maintain peace, not to fight. But your Mercury in Virgo tugs you toward a world of practicality, scrutiny, and seeking a truer truth. This enables you to lead, but not just lead – lead with a greater sense of purpose. You could be that diplomatic presence one second and then back down to earth with an analytical force the next.
The true strength of this conjunction is your power to unite heart and mind. And your Virgo brain makes sure your Libra’s social graces have purpose and direction. You’re not just a convivial raconteur; you are an amazing transformative force of vitality in this universe who has with your own boundless power taken up the reigns of challenge and directed humanity on the last leg of its journey toward heroic glory. The grounded determination of the Virgo serves as a moral compass for your patient resolve, and together you become a force for justice and truth.

Venus in Scorpio

As the graceful, harmony-loving Libra sun syncs up with Venus in its deep, metamorphosis-oriented home sign of Scorpio, your craving for equilibrium is suddenly paired with a burning desire for intense intimacy and commitment. The outer you loves to bring peace and beauty wherever it can, but the inner world of relationships is powered by a fierce desire for intimate passion, the kind that takes over your whole body.
And that makes for a beautiful, intriguing pull. Your Libra sun seeks to please and partner perfectly. But your Venus in Scorpio drags you down to one that is all about deep feelings, rabid loyalty and the relentless pursuit of intense passion. You get to not only feel the profound intellectual intimacy of human connection, but you get to express that love in way that is overwhelmingly powerful, protective and loyal.
The greatest strength of this combination is Loving with a soft soul and a wild heart. Your Libra's social grace finds profound purpose and a faithful foundation in your Scorpio heart. You feel magnetically pulled towards unions that seem soul-deep and life-changing, based on a shared emotional intensity and resonating fierce devotion. The love you share grows in an environment of mutual honor and profound trust.

Mars in Virgo

When the graceful, harmony-loving Libra sun meets in the extremely detail-oriented, service-driven sign of Mars-ruled Virgo, your actions are a genius mix of mental equilibrium and practical perfection. You enjoy the peace and loveliness of making order in everything you do, however your realm sees motivation as a strong NEED for order, to be efficient and practical, to solve problems with straight thinking in total dedication.
This tension is along real and desirable lines. Your Libra sun is all about maintaining harmony and looking for the one. But your Mars in Virgo tugs you toward a reality governed by literal perfection, achievable goals and an endless search to perfect. In doing so, you get not only a taste of the intellectual heights to which relationships can reach between humans, but also the power to infuse that same energy into a form that is extremely malleable, intelligent and forward-thinking. Where this cocktail really comes into its own is by being able to use your intuition and shake things up with a calm but clear sense of purpose. Your Virgo compulsion brings gifts of a sense of mission and structure in which to house your Libra's social graces. You are attracted to relationships that feel expansive, hopeful, characterized by shared spiritual ideals and fierce devotion. You work best in a collegial environment, where you feel that respect is mutual and the sense of discovery never ends.

Jupiter in Aries

It’s through the lens of brave, “I can do it all” assertion and action that your native sense of expansion is filtered when Jupiter in Aries bops the harmony seeking Libra sun in the gut with luck. Your external you wants always to be one who causes peace and beauty in all things but your inner psyche is dominated by an intense restless motivation for action, explicit actions, leadership and broad assertiveness in growth.
This is what makes this a great and interesting pull. Your aqua Libra sun hungers for harmony and a life partner. But your Jupiter in Aries guides you toward a universe of deep passion, transformative ambitions and an unrelenting search for the core of everything. It means you can not only become intellectually ‘mindful’ of your connectivity to other humans, but that you can pass on your energy in a way so damn versatile, intelligent and forward thinking.
Your true potency with this combination is your ability to go on gut feeling and get things done with soft will. Aries drive infuses the social graces of your Libra kin with a sense of purpose and passion. You are attracted to collaborations that seem stretched and optimistic, collaborations conceived in and dedicated by shared spiritual ideals. You're at your best in an environment where there's mutual respect and always something new to learn.

Saturn in Aquarius

As your graceful, harmony-loving Libra sun intersects with its great life lesson in the intellectual, humanitarian sphere of Saturn in Aquarius, you feel propelled by a quest for equilibrium that functions according what might seem to be universal logic and an inherent compulsion to repair the world. Interiorly, even though your outer life is attracted to creating peaceful and beautiful conditions in all aspects of your existence, you are motivated by an intense yearning for intellectual structure, social justice and the detachment that comes with working autonomously to find answers.
This creates a lovely and comely tug. Your Libra sun is peacekeeping and looking for a perfect match. But your Saturn in Aquarius drags you back to the real world of concrete perfection, hands-on goals and an unending search for the Absolute. So you not only get to wear that learning on the soul, but also express it in a manner that is extremely flexible, complex and forward-thinking.
On the surface this can appear to be a big underachiever – i.e. literally the slowest of all possible points in the zodiac!;-) The real power behind this combination is that you have an ability to follow your gut and get things done with a quiet sort of dogged determination. Your Aquarius will to power provides unstoppable force to your Libra's social grace and puts a base of burning embers beneath it. You’re attracted to partnerships that feel wide and optimistic, centered on shared spiritual beliefs and a fiery commitment. Your energy does well with mutual respect and continual uncovering.

Uranus in Sagittarius

With a Libra sun and a Uranus in Sagittarius, you’re essentially a diplomat who’s forced to become a revolutionary explorer. At your core, you have a near-instinctual desire to bring harmony, beauty, and peaceful relationships to everything you touch. Your life’s great lesson, courtesy of Uranus, is creating balance, structure, and drastic transformations in your relationships. There’s an interesting push-pull between your diplomatic, partnership-oriented sun and your dire need for objective investigation. Essentially, your sun seeks to glide through your life on a cloud of balance and grace at all costs. Your Uranus in Sagittarius has something else in plan and it wants you to make a conscious effort to uncover the hidden truths in your relationships. It drives you to take a stand. To set clear boundaries and vote “yes” on tough issues that allow you to give as good as you get without totally losing yourself. It’s all about being both the gentle partner and the firm advocate. The real magic of this placement is the way it converts your raw grace into a structured, visible force for good. Your challenge here is to use your massive empathetic intelligence to cultivate meaningful, real relationships with people.

Neptune in Cancer

Someone with a sun in Libra and Neptune in Cancer is a graceful mediator who must learn to make peace out of the heart. You are harmony needy and driven to have peaceful relationships. That’s matched with Neptune encouraging us to make a new, emotionally-based approach to life that promotes our intuitive and caring design. This combination itself creates a dynamic friction between: the you that is desiring personal blending, and; a mighty, subconscious lurch toward an emotional revolt.
This is where you, the diplomat, come in: You’re a spiritual architect. Your job is to translate your most profound artistic and personal experiences into something real and relatable for a different generation. The trick is to reconcile your sociability with a desire to articulate nuanced thoughts. You don't confide in others your dreams and ideas, for you already know what criticisms would await you there; criticisms the world assuredly does not need more of.. Not even if that is exactly what your own dream calls for! What you are capable of, is using your rock-steady grace to create something beautiful that screams from the mountain tops.
Your trajectory toward a fulfilled life is paved with learning to be a brave artist, not a politico. And your legacy won't be about the people you shagged but the real, beautiful things that you inspired in this world. It’s like that When you learn to trust the vision, the genius not only shines–it becomes a light that others are drawn towards on their own heroic quest.

Pluto in Gemini

Pluto in Gemini is occupying your 9th house, Libra — the area of philosophy, higher learning and education, travel and worldview. This is when life drags you out of your comfort zone and makes you look around. For a sign that is about balance and unity, this transit won’t let you remain neutral — it requires you to dig deeper into your beliefs, and declare them with strength.
Perhaps your "old" philosophies weren't working any more. Belief systems picked up in childhood, or even filed-away-as-fine ways of seeing the world for most of your life, can be tested and broken down. At times, it can be destabilizing: as if the ground beneath your view of life is moving. But Pluto here is not about getting you lost; it’s about leading you toward truths that sing to your core.
It can draw you toward higher studies, soul-searching quests, and even physical treks to far-off lands that forever shift your perspective. When you meet a mentor or teacher, or visit another culture that seems fated, your mind opens in ways you hadn’t thought possible. And perhaps, you also feel your own call to take on the role of a guide and share wisdom that really has real depth.
Libra, by the end of this cycle you will have a philosophy that belongs to no one but you — one that is unshakable, withstanding and empowering. Your perspective of the world is utterly transformed during Pluto in Gemini, and you come away not just wiser, but more in tune with your ultimate path.
