Ronald Reagan Bio

Ronald Wilson Reagan (/ˈrɒnəld ˈwɪlsən ˈreɪɡən/; February 6, 1911 - June 5, 2004) was an American politician and actor, who served as the 40th President of the United States from 1981 to 1989. Prior to his presidency, he was the 33rd Governor of California from 1967 to 1975, after a career as a Hollywood actor and labor leader. Raised in a poor, small-town family in northern Illinois, Ronald Reagan graduated from Eureka College in 1932 and worked as a sportscaster on several regional radio stations. After moving to Hollywood in 1937, he became an actor, appearing in a number of major productions. Reagan was twice elected president of the Screen Actors Guild, where he worked to eradicate Communist influence. In the 1950s, he appeared on television and gave motivational talks at General Electric plants. After a lifetime as a liberal Democrat, his views changed. He became a conservative and, in 1962, joined the Republican Party. In 1964, Reagan's "A Time for Choosing" speech in support of Barry Goldwater's faltering presidential campaign earned him national attention as the new conservative spokesman. Building a network of supporters, he was elected Governor of California in 1966. As governor, Reagan raised taxes, turned the state's budget deficit into a surplus, defied protesters at the University of California, ordered National Guard troops to intervene during a period of protest in 1969, and was re-elected in 1970. He twice ran unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination, in 1968 and 1976; four years later, he easily won the nomination and was elected the longest-serving president, defeating incumbent Jimmy Carter in 1980. Reagan assumed the presidency in 1981, implementing radical new political and economic initiatives. His supply-side economic policies, known as "Reaganomics", called for lower tax rates to stimulate economic growth, control of the money supply to curb inflation, economic deregulation and cuts in government spending. During his first term, he survived an assassination attempt, stepped up the war on drugs and fought public-sector unions. During his two terms, his economic policies reduced inflation from 12.5% to 4.4%, and achieved average annual real GDP growth of 3.44%. Although Reagan reduced domestic discretionary spending, increased military spending contributed to higher overall federal spending, even after adjusting for inflation. During his re-election, Reagan campaigned on the notion of "morning in America" and won a landslide victory in 1984, with the largest Electoral College victory in history. Foreign affairs dominated his second term, including the end of the Cold War, the bombing of Libya and the Iran-Contra affair. Publicly calling the Soviet Union an "evil empire", he shifted Cold War policy from détente to retreat, intensifying the arms race with the USSR while engaging in talks with Soviet General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev, which led to the INF Treaty, reducing both countries' nuclear arsenals. A year and a half after he left office, the Berlin Wall fell, and on December 26, 1991, almost three years after his departure, the Soviet Union collapsed. When he left office in 1989, Reagan enjoyed an approval rating of 68%, matching that of Franklin D. Roosevelt and, later, Bill Clinton, the most popular presidents to leave office in the modern era. Although he had planned an active post-presidency, Reagan revealed in 1994 that he had Alzheimer's disease, making his last public appearance at Richard Nixon's funeral; he died ten years later, aged 93. An icon among Republicans, he ranked favorably in public opinion and as a critic of American presidents, and his tenure represented a realignment towards conservative policies in the United States.

Sun in Aquarius 16°31

People born under the sign of Aquarius are influenced by two different planets. Saturn gives them peace of mind, concentration and perseverance, whileUranus is responsible for their restlessness, originality and choleric nature. These characteristics are rarely present separately; their character is a balanced blend.

These people have a strong will, which they occasionally replace with irresponsible actions, because they often give themselves very difficult tasks and find it beneath them to ask for advice. They are by no means inflexible, nor do they demand that the situation evolve according to their wishes. Their souls are gentle and fragile, and they try to avoid conflict. In essence, they are philanthropists, interested in social issues and trying to find solutions to various injustices.

They love nature and try to discover the secrets of nature's laws; they are relentless in their efforts to solve the problems they tackle. These people are tolerant, kind and good-natured, and can be selfless and compassionate friends. Their greatest desire is to be treated well. These people have many incredible ideas and are able to think systematically, but they tend to be far ahead of what others are used to, so they often experience incomprehension and disappointment; they will soon come up with a new, equally original idea, and history will repeat itself. They are dreamers who deserve the understanding of others and good help, because their ideas are driven by a deep idealism and an effort to improve the world.

Aquarius is a person who sets things in motion, removes obstacles and relieves distress. He has great imagination and intuition, which enables him to detect hidden connections and see "around the corner", but he rarely shares his ugly discoveries with others.

People born under this sign loathe restrictions on freedom, and suffer in confined spaces with no overview or freedom of movement. They can't stay in one place for long, and think about leaving as soon as they arrive in a new place. However, they don't force anyone to share their restlessness with them.

Moon in Taurus 13°42'

Your security depends on stability, which is not easy to satisfy. You may have a practical nature, dependent on the material aspects of life. You must learn to accept change as part of your life, otherwise complications may arise - changes caused by other people you love, illness, etc. The fundamental problem is to find your own self-respect so that you don't wrongly seek it in material things. When you accept yourself as you are, it will be easier to find peace and tranquility in the outside world. Your advantage is the ability to perceive yourself and your body, and to satisfy your own needs as well as those of others.

Ascendant in Sagittarius 27°15'

Ascendant (rising sign)

Part of your nature is oriented towards noble goals, while the other part is controlled by earthly and animal instincts. The lives of these people can be accompanied by a constant search for something that is very difficult to achieve. Even before they reach the goal, they see another that is just as difficult to attain. People with a Sagittarius ascendant are full of passion and need to use this energy and enthusiasm. They can be very inspiring when they stop putting themselves first.

Gemini descendant - Partners and compatibility
When you have Sagittarius ascendant, you have Gemini descendant. The best partner for you is someone who can analyze and question your opinions and conclusions, who forces you to think more clearly and who irritates your confidence. Be grateful to the person who is willing to do the little things that will help make your big project a reality. Don't look down on your partner and try to listen to his or her daily stories, it will bring you closer together.
