Woodrow Wilson Bio

Thomas Woodrow Wilson (December 28, 1856 - February 3, 1924), better known as Woodrow Wilson, was an American politician and academic who served as the 28th President of the United States from 1913 to 1921. Born in Staunton, Virginia, he spent his early years in Augusta, Georgia, and Columbia, South Carolina. Wilson earned a Ph.D. in political science at Johns Hopkins University, and was a professor and scholar at various institutions before being chosen as President of Princeton University, a position he held from 1902 to 1910. In the 1910 election, he ran for governor for the New Jersey Democratic Party and was elected New Jersey's 34th governor, from 1911 to 1913. As a candidate in the 1912 presidential election, Wilson benefited from a split in the Republican Party, which gave him a wide margin in the Electoral College with just over forty percent of the vote. He is the first Southerner to be elected President since Zachary Taylor in 1848. Wilson was a major force in the Progressive movement, strengthened by his Democratic Party's control of the White House and Congress in 1912. Upon taking office, Wilson reintroduced the State of the Union address, which had not been used since 1801. As head of Congress, now in Democratic hands, he oversaw the adoption of progressive legislative policies unmatched until the New Deal in 1933. These included the Federal Reserve Act, the Federal Trade Commission Act, the Clayton Antitrust Act and the Federal Farm Loan Act. Having taken office a month after the Sixteenth Amendment was ratified, Wilson called a special session of Congress, whose work culminated in the Revenue Act of 1913, which introduced an income tax and lowered tariffs. By passing the Adamson Act, which imposed an eight-hour workday for the railroads, he averted a railroad strike and the ensuing economic crisis. When the First World War broke out in 1914, Wilson maintained a policy of neutrality, but pursued a more aggressive policy in the face of the Mexican Civil War. Wilson faced former New York governor Charles Evans Hughes in the 1916 presidential election. By a narrow margin, he became the first Democrat since Andrew Jackson to be elected to two consecutive terms. Wilson’s second term was dominated by the United States’ entry into the First World War. In April 1917, when Germany resumed unrestricted submarine warfare and sent the Zimmermann telegram, Wilson asked Congress to declare war in order to make the world safe for democracy. During the war, Wilson concentrated on diplomacy and financial considerations, leaving military strategy to the generals, particularly General John J. Pershing. By lending billions of dollars to Britain, France and the other Allies, the U.S. helps them finance the war effort. Thanks to the Selective Service Act, conscription made it possible to send 10,000 freshly trained soldiers a day to France by the summer of 1918. On the home front, he raised income taxes, borrowing billions of dollars through the public purchase of Liberty Bonds. He created the War Industries Board, encouraged cooperation between labor unions, regulated agriculture and food production through the Lever Act and granted Treasury Secretary William McAdoo direct control of the national rail system. In his 1915 State of the Union address, Wilson asked Congress to pass what would become the Espionage Act of 1917 and the Sedition Act of 1918, which cracked down on anti-democracy activists. Repression was intensified by his Attorney General, A. Mitchell Palmer, and included the expulsion of non-citizen radicals during the first "Red Scare" of 1919-1920. After years of advocating suffrage at the state level, in 1918 he supported the Nineteenth Amendment, whose ratification in 1920 ensured equal suffrage for women throughout the U.S., despite opposition from the South. Wilson composed his government with Southern Democrats who believed in segregation. He granted department heads greater management autonomy. Early in 1918, he published his peace principles, the Fourteen Points, and in 1919, after the armistice, he went to Paris to promote the formation of a League of Nations, thus concluding the Treaty of Versailles. On his return from Europe, Wilson undertook a national tour in 1919 to campaign for the treaty, but suffered a severe stroke. Senate Republicans were deeply concerned about the treaty, and Wilson rejected a compromise proposed by Henry Cabot Lodge, resulting in the Senate's rejection of the treaty. Due to his stroke, Wilson retires to the White House, his disability having diminished his power and influence. Strategizing for re-election, Wilson skipped the 1920 Democratic National Convention, but his bid for a third term was rejected. A staunch Presbyterian, Wilson infused his internationalism with morality, an ideology today described as "Wilsonian" - a militant foreign policy that called on the nation to promote democracy around the world. For his sponsorship of the League of Nations, Wilson was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1919, the second of three sitting presidents so honored.

Sun in Capricorn

When the Sun is in the sign of Capricorn, you have the impression that you are living in a unique period of the year. This moment is your opportunity to shine, to pursue your passions, and to move closer to achieving your goals. Your ability to become more disciplined, responsible, and naturally adept at leading people will improve as a result of reading this chapter. These characteristics will all continue to improve. There is a clear indication that individuals are more self-assured, well-organized, and prepared to take on problems. As of right now, you should make certain that you are aware of what your long-term objectives are, give serious consideration to the means by which you will achieve them, and engage in activities that will assist you in achieving them. At this stage in your professional life, you have a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate how committed you are to your work and how skilled you are in your field. The results of your efforts are visible to others when you put in the effort. Now is the time to begin planning plans, engaging in conversation with other individuals, and cleaning the house. According to the energy of Capricorn, the most effective strategy for winning a race is to go at a modest and steady pace; thus, you must be patient and keep going. It is made very evident by the Sun how essential it is to exhibit honesty, loyalty, and consistency while interacting with other people. It's possible that you'll need to establish significant relationships, make certain that your expectations are crystal clear, and construct solid collaborations. It is possible to cultivate connections that are more profound and long-lasting if you are honest and avoid suppressing your emotions.

Moon in Capricorn

The Capricorn sun is driven and self-controlled, and its emotional center is the strong and strategic Capricorn moon. It's obvious that you have a strong sense of purpose and focus. This is why you are a Capricorn. You completely agree with your unwavering faith in a higher truth, and pragmatism permeates every part of your life. Because of your dual earth sign compatibility, you are incredibly calm and level-headed. Your ability to feel and remember emotions could be both a strength and a weakness. The rationale is that both can be achieved. Your emotions are intense, and you feel a strong need to control them. You are a person who genuinely cares about the safety of those you love and will stop at nothing to make sure they are safe. But this amazing depth comes with a great deal of difficulty. You may be possessive and secretive if you are a double Capricorn. You tend to suppress your feelings because your emotional health is in a precarious state. Feelings of emotional overload may result from your inability to regulate your emotions. You may be emotionally aloof as a protective mechanism against your vast inner universe. This is because the earth may seem too big. The first step to inner peace is acknowledging and embracing your feelings and letting them mold you. You might find that you can get through challenging times without being overwhelmed by your strong emotions if you can find healthy ways to deal with them, like creating art, having a strong support network of loved ones, or practicing mindfulness.

Mercury in Capricorn

With the double-earth energy, you are one of the most focused and action-oriented people in the zodiac. You don’t just think, you act on your thoughts with a relentless grip: a double-edged blessing. You want to dig down the bottom of an anything and you're so deep, emotionally that you are loyal and fiercely protective, defending your loved ones with everything in you.
But all of that power brings considerable headaches. The double Capricorn might turn you intensely dramatic and defensive instead, since your emotions can be a bit reserved when they guard that precious inner world of yours. You may find you want emotional time to recover, but the feelings are so strong it’s hard to cope. The world can seem like a lot, and you might be susceptible to burnout in defense of your powerful inner landscape.
The way to your inner peace is by accepting the positive and transformative force of your emotions. Revealing healthy ways to express the intensity you’ve found — through art, a channel of creativity or in a deep and trusted connection with another human being — can help you weather the worst depths without being swallowed up by them. How much The first of most all signs, your emotional health depends upon the release of your mighty feelings so that you can feel like a human being, to dissolve inferior feelings: you want regular intercourse with crowds as well as individuals; and using some of your incredible gifts for crying out loud heals by touching with this kind of light that is beyond what most people call “thankful".

Uranus in Taurus

Someone with their sun in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus is akin to an experienced CEO who needs to learn how to be a radical leader! At your core, you are driven to construct and accomplish things, everything needing to be hard wrought with a strong undertone of discipline: success creating years that are built concrete by concrete. But the great lesson of your life, coming courtesy of Uranus, is to forge a fairness and structure that facilitates profound change in all your relationships. Combine that, and you’ve got an interesting push-pull going on between your no-nonsense, business-y nature and a deep compulsion to get to the truth of the matter from all angles.
Your Capricorn sun strives to be the ruler of your domain, a force to be reckoned with that triumphs due to the seamless execution. But your Uranus-in-Taurus moment is here to show you that actual achievement means deliberately staring down the unspoken truths in your relationships. It makes you stand up for what is righteous even if you are uncomfortable and teaches you to set clear boundaries so that you can give yourself away without losing your own self. The trick is to be a remarkably detailed planner and a staunch defender of justice at the same time.
Keep in mind: The real magic here is manifesting your bare ambition into an organized, visible force for good. You can be a profane voice, a public figure whose vulgarity creates concord in your backyard and beyond. Your job is to take your insatiable intellectual curiosity and create a culture, community based on mutual respect and trust.

Neptune in Pisces

A Capricorn sun and Neptune in Pisces is a spiritual architect, deeply compelled to manifest their desires for the benefit of all beings. What you want to be known for is your drive to succeed, the legacy that you're working so hard at building, and not just lip service. This is enhanced by Neptune in your home sign, which gives you a deep well of intuition and spiritual understanding. This coexistence sets up a tension between your desire for concrete results and an intense, subconscious draw to the artistic and even mystical.
When that placement shows up you’re not a leader, you’re an inspired one. It’s your job to follow the deepest gut-lever and champion a cause that resonates with your soul. The trouble for you is that you are too disciplined with the need to be very sensitive to other people and energy. Your lesson in life is to learn how to listen to and trust your intuition, without letting it over-power your desire for control. Without judgment, the gift can be lack of focus or one will get lost in the illusion. You are strong in a way that translates your practicality into beauty that serves others.
Your way forward to a rich life is becoming the same for a courageous healer, a champion of us all. Your form of legacy will not be just about what you achieved personally but what good things you managed to bring into the world. This is what happens: It shines and it becomes a shining lamp of a person with majestic flashes to inspire others into their compassionate purpose.

Pluto in Taurus

Pluto in Taurus illuminates your 5th house, Capricorn — the space of creativity, romance, children and self-expression. For a sign associated with discipline and ambition, this transit invites you to embrace an entirely different kind of power: the power of joy, passion and play. But because it’s Pluto, don’t expect this to make you feel light at first — this is about radical transformation in the way that you express yourself on the deepest level.
Love and romance will mean more while this influence is in effect. Casual dating may suddenly seem deep, green and even karmic. For parents, this transit can also usher in seismic shifts in your identity and responsibilities as a parent.
Creatively, Pluto here urges you to no longer hold back. If you have been downplaying your skills or playing it safe, that minimalism is currently being turned on its head: time to jump into projects that are all soul. Creative activities, pet projects and even just recreational passions could become venues for deep introspection and personal growth.
And by the time Pluto finishes up in Taurus, Capricorn, you’re no longer going to view joy or creativity as “extras” in your life — rather, you’ll understand they are crucial parts of who you are. This is your time to reignite passion, claim creative authority, and shine without apology.

The natal chart reading below describes their innate strengths, weaknesses, vulnerabilities, daily routine, and pivotal life moments – revealing what exactly makes them the icon we admire

Read on to discover how the planetary forces align to determine Woodrow Wilson’s creative genius, career ambitions, remarkable achievements, wisdom, and wit.

Sun in Capricorn 7°47

The sign of Capricorn is ruled by the planet Saturn, which gives people born under this sign peace, patience, perseverance and ambition. These people are capable of putting maximum effort into a job they've chosen or been asked to do. They are friendly and cheerful people, but at their core, they are serious and responsible, and everything they do is based on these attitudes.

They are very strong-willed, so they generally get what they want and leave nothing to chance. In business, they adhere to well-defined contracts, and follow good practice when researching for preparatory studies or in the field of art. Interestingly, these people generally choose the most difficult tasks, and obstacles make them stronger rather than more difficult. They never mind repeating the same task until they achieve the best possible result. Few people are as suited to research as Capricorns.

They are cautious, reliable people whom others trust because tact and discretion are part of their good character traits. Their focused minds don't allow them to be distracted by a wide circle of friends, but if they accept someone, they're loyal. They may appear dull to others, but in the company of people who suit them, they are cheerful, funny companions. Their humor is witty, because even then, they don't succumb to superficiality.

Moon in Aquarius 0°45'

Your relationship with your emotions can be complicated. You want to free yourself from negative emotions such as fear, anger and jealousy, but this can lead to others expecting you to be incredibly tolerant when they display such emotions. You may tend to stay as far away from your instincts and natural emotions as possible, but the situation you unconsciously put yourself in forces you to accept reality. You have the ability to be an impartial observer of life, which makes you a good psychologist who can give others useful, unbiased advice.

In relationships, you tend to attract partners who are indifferent, unpredictable or unequal. It's important to you that there's friendship between you and your lover. You have a strong need for freedom of expression, which can lead to mood swings and unpredictability. You're happy in the company of others. When you're in a group, it's easier for you to understand your feelings and get rid of the fear of intimate situations.

Ascendant in Libra 15°28'

Ascendant (rising sign)

Libra prefers well thought-out, prepared tasks based on objectives and a correct assessment of the situation. Trying to take other people's opinions into consideration can slow the person down and manifest itself as hesitation, indecision or opportunism. These people generally prefer to have someone else make decisions for them. It's important to create a solid system of values and standards that can be followed, as this facilitates decision-making.

Aries Descendant - Partners and compatibility
People with a Libra Ascendant seek perfect, harmonious and pleasant relationships. But they can become critical if something doesn't meet their expectations and force their partner to adopt their opinion.

If you have a Libra Ascendant, you have an Aries Descendant. An egocentric, assertive partner may force you to make concessions. However, if your partner is unfair and demanding, you must learn to insist and demand that he or she respect certain values in order to guarantee the balance of your relationship. You don't always have to wait and see what happens; you have to openly express your opinion and be ready to engage in conflict.

You both need to feel like people with equal rights in your relationship. Encourage healthy competition so that you can become aware of each other's abilities and values.
