Robert Smalls Bio

Robert Smalls (April 5, 1839 - February 23, 1915) was an enslaved African-American who, during and after the Civil War, won his freedom and became a ship's pilot, ship's captain and politician. He freed himself, his crew and their families from slavery on May 13, 1862, by commandeering a Confederate transport ship, the CSS Planter, in Charleston harbor, and sailing it from Confederate-controlled waters to the American blockade. His example and persuasion helped convince President Lincoln to accept African-American soldiers into the U.S. Army and Navy. Smalls was born in Beaufort, South Carolina. After the Civil War, he returned there and became a politician. He was elected on the Republican ticket to the South Carolina state legislature and to the U.S. House of Representatives during the Reconstruction era. As a politician, Smalls authored legislation that gave South Carolina the first free, compulsory public education system in the United States. He founded the South Carolina Republican Party. With the state's white Democrats disenfranchising most blacks (who made up a large part of the Republican Party), Smalls was the last Republican to represent South Carolina's 5th Congressional District until 2010.

Moon in Sagittarius

Sun in Aries

Asc in Sagittarius

Sun in Aries

When the Sun moves back into the sign of Aries, it seems as if it is returning home. Your natural drive, self-confidence, and vitality are all brought back to you as a consequence of this. The capacity to express oneself, the chance to start anew, and the ability to be independent are all things that are highly appreciated in this location, according to you. This is a person whose personality is tough to predict because of who you are. Immediately, you can experience a sense of compulsion to take action, take a gamble, or strive toward objectives that are in line with your aspirations. During the time that the Sun is in the sign of Aries, your objectives are brought to light, and you are given the confidence to work toward achieving them as quickly as possible. Honesty, openness, and passion are characteristics that are associated with relationships while the Sun is in the sign of Aries. The fact that the Sun is located in the constellation of Aries is the reason for this phenomenon. There is a possibility that you will be more inclined to communicate your requirements and anticipate that others would similarly do the same. In spite of the fact that you are a highly independent person, a transit will make it abundantly evident to you how essential it is to cultivate connections with others who understand and appreciate your independence.

Moon in Sagittarius

You are extremely driven and resolved to accomplish specific goals when the fiery and courageous sun of Aries collides with the emotional core of the moon of Sagittarius in the vast and courageous cosmos. You are the type of person who is prepared to face any challenge life may present. You come across as a self-assured, courageous, and natural leader. In contrast, your inner self is a passionate, free-spirited force that requires either a big truth or a big adventure to feel at peace. These power dynamics create a powerful and lovely synergy when they cooperate. Your Aries sun encourages you to be bold, assertive, and independent. The Sagittarius moon, on the other hand, advises you to seek out a more cerebral and adventure-focused world and endeavor to discover greater purpose in your life. As a result, you can proceed with a more significant and optimistic goal. At any time, you can transition from being busy to offering sage and compelling counsel. Your high level of self-confidence makes this combination extremely potent. You were born under the Sagittarius moon, which gives the impetuous Aries sun a broad perspective on life and a strong sense of faith. You are a strong and transformative force that can motivate others and effect long-lasting change, making you more than just a leader due to the quality of your work. The Sagittarius' idealism will give your strong drive a moral compass, and you will be a force for justice and truth.

Mercury in Taurus

When the fiery and bold sun of Aries finds its mind in the calm and pragmatic realm of Mercury in Taurus, you become a person of great action who approaches communication with a surprisingly grounded approach. Your outer self is a born leader, acting with courage and confidence, while your inner reality operates slowly, thoughtfully, and occasionally with a defiant attitude. A strong and lovely synergy is produced by this dynamic. Your Aries sun wants to take charge, take initiative, and act courageously. Conversely, Mercury's position in Taurus pulls you into a trustworthy, grounded, and truth-seeking world. This gives you the opportunity to express yourself with a more profound and significant purpose, in addition to enabling you to proceed. You have the capacity to be both a tornado of activity and a force to be reckoned with. Your capacity to bring your heart and mind together is what gives this combination its real power. Your fiery Aries has better vision and a strong sense of direction because of your Taurus-ruled mind. You are not only a leader but also a powerful and transformational force whose words have the power to inspire others and bring about long-lasting change. Your patient's resolve makes you a force for justice and truth, and the Taurus' grounded drive gives your patient a moral compass.

Venus in Taurus

As the fiery, fearless sun moves through each sign of the zodiac, it finds its heart in Venus — and, this season, that means your love is grounded sensual earth in Venus-ruled Taurus. Your morphic body likes that exciting action-adventure love, but your relationships happen in a realm of real comfort and practical security.
It’s a dynamic that generates a beautiful and intoxicating tug. Your Aries sun craves heroism, to go forth boldly and lead in love. But your Venus in Taurus is so attracted to a world of bodily delights, reliable security and wanting to set up for life. This is to give you the opportunity to know something of the depth of shared humanity and, therefore, how brave, loving (and never passive) you would be if you felt it.
The beauty of this combination is that you can afford to love fiercely with a soft heart and a gentle caress. Your Aries’s indefatigable drive has a home in your Taurus heart: you’re a natural nurturer who can bring their desires down to earth. You're attracted to relationships that make you feel safe and taken care of, rooted in common sensual enjoyment and an overwhelming sense of loyalty; your love grows in a space of mutual respect and admiration.

Mars in Virgo

As the audacious, passionate Aries sun squares off with motivating motivation machine Mars in Virgo this month, how you take action is a delicate balance between blunt-force assertion and real-world perfection. Your desire to take charge and hit first with boldness is exactly the way your personality wants to express itself in cups, but secular humanism would have you motivated by a strong will for control, an armada of organization and practicality while cut-through-the-proverbial-craping your goals.
These forces make for quite a lovely pull. Your Aries sun needs to be the one charging ahead, the hero, with everything falling. But your Mars in Virgo draws you toward a life of physical perfection, doing what works and making things better. This means you can not only feel the fiery depths of human bonding, but you also put your energy into being INCREDIBLY reliable, protective and dedicated.
The strength in this combo is when you can go with your sense of “I know” and just set things into motion “quietly fierce”. Your Aries's abundant energy gets a sense of purpose and find solid ground under your Virgo drive. You’re attracted to relationships that feel expansive and optimistic, based on shared interests and fierce loyalty. Your energy is best in an environment of respect and discovery.

Jupiter in Libra

This time, your native urge for growth is put through the grinder of intellectual assertiveness and courageous harmony when the brave, bold Aries meets its luck and expansiveness in the elegant, harmony-fueled sign of Jupiter in Libra. Your outer persona loves to take charge and make things happen with gutsy force, yet your internal get up and go is fed by a strong longing for balancing, partaking and thing in terms of an underscoring romantic view on life-expansion.
Such is the pretty, engrossing tug of war. Your sun in Aries wants to be the hero, to charge ahead and conquer. But your Jupiter in Libra tugs you toward a life of deep emotion, change-the-world dreams and the relentless pursuit of understanding everything to its absolute core. You get to taste the searing dephs of human bond but you also get to unleash your power in a way that is fiercely loyal, and protective and devoted.
The real strength in this combination is that you exhibit trust in your instincts and get things done with a silent force. Your Libra drive provides your Aries with a deep sense of purpose and solid ground to bounce off of. You attract relationships that are expansive and hopeful, based on common spiritual ideals and fierce devotion. It’s an environment that fuels your energy but also respect and continuous discovery.

Saturn in Sagittarius

Someone with their Aries sun and Saturn in Sagittarius is a pioneer who has to become his or her own mapmaker. You’re governed by intuition to first act, to fall headfirst at full throttle into the very situation facing you with courage nervy and a demand for now instead of later. But Saturn’s great lesson in your life is balance, structure and deep transformation in your relationships. The two interact to engender an interesting push and pull: between your autocratic, individualistic side and a deep longing for objective investigation.
Your Aries sun seeks to lead the charge and blaze a trail, anointed by your birthday candle but in no mood to compromise, preferring instead victory through direct confrontation. But nope, your Saturn in Sagittarius is here to school you in the fact that real triumph involves a conscious attempt to address uncomfortable truths within your relationships. It makes you take a stand for what is right, even if it’s difficult to do so, and sets clear boundaries around how others can receive from you without your losing yourself. The struggle has been in unlearning how to be a confident trailblazer and a justice-driven advocate at the same damn time.
The real power of this is to shape your raw bravery into a rational, visible force for good. You can be a kind of unsung hero, a mighty voice for unity among your friends — and others. Your job is to leverage your incredible assertiveness to create relationships and communities where honor and profound trust are held. You have a unique ability to navigate through complicated emotional terrain, even drawing a line in the sand that you stand firmly behind when you know something is just right.

Uranus in Pisces

Somebody with their Aries sun and a Uranus in Pisces would be like a fearless explorer who needs to grow into a visionary leader. Your first gut reaction is to act, to run into something with the bravery and audacity and immediacy. But your life’s biggest lesson, given by Uranus, is to bring balance, structure and a deep transformation to those relationships. This crossing dynamic creates a beautiful tug‐of‐war between your limitatively determined personal nature and the great need for objective inquiry.
Your Aries sun wants to be a trailblazer, a leader who makes no concessions and wins by meeting challenges head on. But your Uranus in Pisces is around to school you that real triumph means making a conscious effort to face those challenging truths in your relationships. It forces you to take a stand for what is right, even if that feels uncomfortable and to have clear boundaries in place so that you can give back to others without losing yourself. The test is on how to be a bold pioneer and tough defender of justice.
The real strength of this placement then is to take that base fearlessness and turn it into something organized, outward-showing and good. You too can be a silent hero, a strong voice who brings unity within your circles of society and beyond. Your task then is to powerfully possess and apply the strength of your assertiveness towards creating relationships and communities based on deep respect and trust. You're able to wade in and out of these emotional territories unlike anyone else, while all the time being as clear as a line in the sand when it comes to what you know is right.
The key to a fulfilling life for you is in mastering the art of the balanced partnership. Your legacy will be that you were able to mix raw passion with careful pursuit of justice and that true power isn’t how people make you feel, but the flexible and beautiful ties we all weave.

Neptune in Aquarius

Someone with an Aries sun and Neptune in Aquarius is a visionary trailblazer who figures out how to start a movement. Yes Stand first: Your native impulse is to do something, to ride boldly forth with flaming courage and the demand for individual achievement. But your great lesson, led by Neptune, is to employ this pioneering spirit as a force for collective evolution. This dynamic creates a fascinating push-and-pull between your aspiration for personal victory and a surprisingly strong pull toward public, revolutionary change.
Your Aries sun longs for victory in the now, giving them an opportunity to assert themselves and conquer new ground. But your Neptune in Aquarius tells you that purpose comes not just from what happens for you but for a cause greater than yourself. It invites you to stand up for the rights of the many and make your personal passion a force toward social peace. The puzzle is how to be a confident champion and a bold architect of something better.
The real magic of this placement is your ability to be an advocate for the plight of humanity and convert that awareness into practical effort. You have the wonderful ability to create new systems of fairness and common cause. Your task is to summon your courage and open mindedness and to form collectives, communities based on innovation and a profound belief in shared progress.
Your journey toward living a satisfied life lies in closing the distance between a personal ambition and a universal purpose. And I do not think the measure of your memory will be in what you did with good, but in how much decency you raised into our world by (your) life.

Pluto in Aries

Pluto in Aries is a bit like giving you, Aries, the keys to your personal rocket ship — then igniting the fuse! This is power and change and raw intensity in your own first house of identity showing up here. Translation? So you’re not just evolving, you’re reinventing yourself from scratch. The old “you” will not make it through this transit — but that’s precisely the point.
Aries, you’re already the zodiac’s trailblazer, but Pluto won’t let you stay on the surface. It gets into your motives, your ego, your ambition and interrogates: Who are you? You may have phases of feeling stripped down — of shedding relationships, habits or even skins that no longer fit this new person you’re growing into. Sometimes, it can seem as if you’re standing in fire, but the thing about fire is this: It doesn’t only burn; it refines steel.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to take back your own power in way you never even thought was possible. People will feel the change in your presence — you’ll radiate a stronger magnetism, an aura of authority, perhaps even a simmering intensity that demands attention. But the shadow side? You might need to fight against power struggles, jockeying for position or attempting to bulldoze over everything. Pluto wants you powerful, not lethal.
By the end of this transit, Aries, you’ll emerge a new person — not just the warrior but the one who understands exactly what they fight for.
