Sigmund Freud Bio

Sigmund Freud (/ˈfrɔɪd/; [ˈziːkmʊnt ˈfʁɔʏt]; born Sigismund Schlomo Freud; 6 May 1856 – 23 September 1939) was an Austrian neurologist and the father of psychoanalysis, a clinical method for treating psychopathology through dialogue between a patient and a psychoanalyst. Freud was born to Galician Jewish parents in the Moravian town of Freiberg, in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Freud qualified as a doctor of medicine in 1881 at the University of Vienna, and then carried out research into cerebral palsy, aphasia and microscopic neuroanatomy at the Vienna General Hospital. Upon completing his habilitation in 1885, he was appointed a docent in neuropathology and became an affiliated professor in 1902. In creating psychoanalysis, Freud developed therapeutic techniques such as the use of free association and discovered transference, establishing its central role in the analytic process. Freud's redefinition of sexuality to include its infantile forms led him to formulate the Oedipus complex as the central tenet of psychoanalytical theory. His analysis of dreams as wish-fulfillments provided him with models for the clinical analysis of symptom formation and the mechanisms of repression as well as for elaboration of his theory of the unconscious. Freud postulated the existence of libido, an energy with which mental processes and structures are invested and which generates erotic attachments, and a death drive, the source of compulsive repetition, hate, aggression and neurotic guilt. In his later work Freud developed a wide-ranging interpretation and critique of religion and culture. Freud lived and worked in Vienna, having set up his clinical practice there in 1886. In 1938 he left Austria to escape the Nazis and died in exile in the United Kingdom the following year. Psychoanalysis remains influential within psychology, psychiatry, and psychotherapy, and across the humanities. As such, it continues to generate extensive and highly contested debate with regard to its therapeutic efficacy, its scientific status, and whether it advances or is detrimental to the feminist cause. Nonetheless, Freud's work has suffused contemporary Western thought and popular culture. In the words of W. H. Auden's poetic tribute, by the time of Freud's death, he had become "a whole climate of opinion / under whom we conduct our different lives."

Sun in Taurus 16°19’

The sign of Taurus gives people who were born under it calm and patient nature, and a sense of appreciation for beautiful and pleasant things in life. People born under the sign of Taurus are often quite introverted and they like to keep their distance, even from their best friends. However, the reason for this is not their arrogance, but their inability to talk their problems over with somebody.

People born under the sign of Taurus are very conservative, which is reflected in their behaviour, dressing and style of living. It is not possible to say that they are against anything modern, but they insist on high quality materials, perfect design and especially on values. This includes also the fact that these people need the feeling of security for their happiness and they use everything to help them feel this way. They know the value of things and property and they put great effort into obtaining them, because they also want their children to enjoy this security. If these people seem selfish, it's a mistaken idea because they themselves are very modest, but they are driven by the idea that their family has to get the best. Emotional and family support are also important to them, they take good care of their children and they are attentive to older family members without the feeling that they are making sacrifices .

At work these people are very accurate and reliable. Because they know what their duties are, they do not let laziness, their other characteristic, to take over. People born under the sign of Taurus do not insist that they have to do sports. They might take a hike at which end there will be a rare artistic monument, which is not accessible any other way. Only their own family, artistic experiences and good food it is worth some effort.

Because people born under the sign of Taurus are born under the rule of Venus, they have very well developed sense for art and many people born under this sign are active artists, ranging from singer to architects.

These people care about their reputation and even if they do not enjoy the work, they will fulfil their obligations to a good standard. They can concentrate on the work in order not to unnecessarily waste time that they need for something they consider necessary for themselves: reading a book, see an exhibition or a going for a walk in the park. But they are not just dreamers. They know the value of money and they can use it practically and prudently.

Moon in Gemini 14°31’

You can be talkative and you speak skilfully and with ease. This ability can be used in literature, journalism or in counselling. You can correctly predict the mood of a person, but do not ignore the deeper emotional motives. You have a good innate ability to keep a cool head, but beware, cold heart can discourage others. Harmony of thinking and feeling is important. You have the ability to easily get acquainted with many people, but it is more difficult for you to maintain a few solid friendships.

Ascendant in Scorpio 7°26’

Ascendant (Rising Sign)

People with Scorpio on the Ascendant need to fight against dark and destructive power in their life. For some, this power can also come from within, in the form of jealousy, envy or lust for power. The dark and hidden things in the soul must come out. It can be reflected in artwork, for example.

Taurus Descendant - Partners & Compatibility
While Scorpio must fight, attack and change things, Taurus can be patient, have feet firmly on the ground and he has the ability to store things. You should try to gain these characteristics if you have Scorpio Ascendant.

Your partner may be initially attracted to your vivid, irresistible style. But later he can be thrown off balance by what is hidden in you and be unsure if he wants to be under your influence. Your ability to get under your partner´s skin and hurt him in his weak spots can make him harden towards you or even leave you. Your strong shell and fear to show your sensitive areas can create a gap between you. Don´t be afraid to reveal your soul and to trust your partner. You need a stable, conservative type of relationship that will provide comfort and satisfy your inherent desires and values.
